Did you know that pregnancy can play a key role in your oral health? Not only can a pregnancy play a significant role in your oral health, but your oral health can play a significant role during a pregnancy. Make sure you are continuing to clean out your mouth on a daily basis when you’re expecting, so that you may avoid various risks that can arise. To limit risks such as gestational diabetes, premature delivery, preeclampsia and a heightened risk of gum disease, you will want to make sure that you are brushing twice daily and flossing once a day as well.

Beyond your daily brushing and flossing routines, you will need to make sure that you visit your dentist for routine checkups and examinations while pregnant. Your dentist will be able to provide you with treatments to ensure your mouth remains clean and safe and take care of any oral accidents or injuries that may arise. Make sure you let your dentist know about any prenatal vitamins or medications you are taking so you can continue to receive safe and effective oral health care during your pregnancy.
