When a tooth is lost it not only changes the efficiency of your mouth, it can also cause the mouth to have structural changes. If it’s not restored in a reasonable amount of time, the void between two teeth could potentially alter their alignment.

As time goes on these teeth and their partners in your bite pattern could be at increased risk of suffering dental complications. These could include chips, dental fractures, and problems with tooth enamel attrition.

To help prevent these problems, a dentist like Dr. Gary Shmurak might recommend replacing the missing tooth by installing a dental bridge. This treatment plan will require two separate appointments.

The first prepares the two teeth neighboring the void, by removing the existing tooth enamel. This will leave behind a pair of dental posts, which are known as abutments, capable of anchoring the dental work in place.

The dental bridge will then be created at a special dental lab. When it’s ready, you will need to return to Apex Dental Care so Dr. Shmurak can install it onto the abutments with a strong dental grade adhesive.

If you live in the Chalfont, Pennsylvania, area, and you have recently lost a tooth, you should call 215-996-9968 to schedule a dental restoration consultation with the specialists at Apex Dental Care.
